There’s a holiday weekend in our midst! Memorial Day, the 3-day weekend romp that kicks off the summer, is fast-approaching. What are your plans? We’re planning to stick around here and bask in the beautiful Beverly Hills weather for a “staycation.” Some of our best memories are those from right in our hometown of Los Angeles. Often the city feels empty, since everyone’s left town for vacation. Mexico, Hawaii, Palm Springs—all so gorgeous this time of year! Other times, the city is bustling with tourists, filling LA with a welcoming energy. Wherever we are, we try to be with our family, our friends and our loved ones. This weekend we’re hoping to fit in some time at the beach, enjoying homey meals grilled on the BBQ while we suntan and swim in the sea.
At Claude Morady, of course, we do everything in style. We invite you to do the same. If shopping is in the cards for your holiday plans, consider visiting our LA showroom to view our classic and unique collection of jewelry. We are particularly excited about our Engagement Rings, the ultimate symbol of love and commitment. For example, we’re loving this Art Deco Diamond & Sapphire Platinum Ring. This “something blue” will look stunning and special on the one you love. If this is the weekend to propose marriage, Claude Morady is the place to chose your Engagement Ring. There’s nothing like a holiday to make new memories and there’s nothing like a memory to remind you of your love. Whether you live here or are visiting, take time this holiday weekend to celebrate this love in style!
It’s been an exciting week in the sky. On Wednesday, it was reported that astronomers found a diamond engagement ring in space. Of course, it was a planetary nebula and a star, aligned in such a way that gave the appearance of a ring. Telescopes captured the image and, indeed, the sky was bejeweled.
The excitement doesn’t stop there. Tonight and tomorrow, there will be a lunar eclipse. On average this happens only twice a year—making it special, rare, and captivating. In fact, we find the occurrence quite romantic. It requires that perfect moment when the sun and the earth line-up in just a way to cast a dark shadow over the moon. In every case, the moon must be full and, in certain cases, the moon is immersed in a deep reddish orange glow. Perhaps this time around we’ll be lucky enough to see a ruby or a garnet in the sky. Check here for the best viewing opportunities.
Like sunsets and sunrises, this lunar eclipse is not-to-be-missed. This kind of poetic romance reminds us of the beautiful engagement rings in our jewelry collection, such as our Emerald Cut Diamond Engagement Ring we have featured here. Set in Platinum, this Vintage design is accented with a single cut diamond in each side. Circa 1940s, this ring is elegant and delicate. Like a lunar eclipse, it’s one-of-a kind.
Much like the Emerald City in L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, our perfect Emerald Cut Diamond Platinum Engagement Ring is a shining, bright beacon. In the first Oz book, the Emerald City, like our ring, is full of mystery and wonder. Both the fictional city and our Engagement Ring are glowing and magnetic, yet not green in color despite what the name suggests. Of course, our “Emerald” refers to the cut of the diamond—typically rectangular in shape with facets along the top edge. This Classic Emerald Cut 1.44 carat Diamond is set in Platinum and accented with one single cut Diamond on each side. Circa 1940s, this would be the perfect addition to your Vintage Jewelry collection. Like Baum’s classic tale, this ring is of another era, yet timeless in beauty.
